The Burial Process

What to Do

BURIAL STEPS:

  1. Choose One person to manage The Jaanazah For the family (Informant).

IF THE DEATH OCCURS AT HOME:

  • Contact the Paramedics or Doctor to certify that person has died
  • Contact the Police to obtain a death notification for the cemetery
  • Contact the Doctor to issue death certificate
  • Select and Contact the Undertaker
  • Body will under normal circumstances remain at home

IF THE DEATH OCCURS IN HOSPITAL:

  • Select and Contact the Undertaker
  • Under normal circumstances no post mortem will be required
  • Body will be released to the Undertaker

IF THE DEATH OCCURS OUT OF HOSPITAL AND DUE TO MEDICAL OR LEGAL CIRCUMSTANCES, A POST MORTEM IS REQUIRED:

  • Contact the Paramedics or Doctor to certify that person has died
  • Contact the Police to obtain a death notification for the cemetery
  • Contact the Doctor to issue death certificate
  • Select and Contact the Undertaker
  • The Body Will Go To Morgue For Autopsy
  • The Body Will Be Released To Undertaker

IF THE DEATH OCCURS IN HOSPITAL AND AN INVESTIGATION IS REQUIRED:

  • Select and Contact Undertaker
  • The hospital will send the body to the Morgue For Autopsy
  • The Body will be released to the Undertaker

THE GENERAL BURIAL PROCESS :

  1. Prepare all the documents - See the list below
  2. The App will allow you to select the Cemetery 
  3. The App will allow you to select the Undertaker 
  4. This app will allow you to Book a Burial once you have selected a Cemetery.
  5. Submit the documentation to the Undertaker
  6. Undertaker will advise of the payment
  7. Cemetery will confirm the details of the Burial Hole and the Date & Time it will be ready
  8. Cemetery will provide your undertaker with a Burial pass that has the Date, Time and Hole Location.
  9. The Deceased Cloth (Kafan) and Grave Boards must be purchased.
  10. Arrange for the Body Washing & Shrouding
  11. Appoint Learned Scholar to perform the Janaazah Salaah
  12. Arrange place to perform the Janaazah Salaah
  13. Arrange the Burial Hearse.
  14. Once the above have been accomplished, proceed to the Cemetery.
  15. Present Burial Pass when arriving at the cemetery.
  16. Perform the Burial at the Cemetery.

The undertaker will advise of any specific requirements depending on the circumstances.
