We always begin with the name of Allah, the Beneficent and Most Merciful (Bismillah Hirragh Manir Ragheem)

 

1. The following are obligatory in the Janaazah Salaah (Funeral Prayer)
2. To make intention
3. To recite the first Takbeer (Allah Hu Akbar)
4. To recite Suratul Faatihah 
5. To recite the second Takbeer (Allah Hu Akbar)
   
6. To recite praise on the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS)
7. To recite the third Takbeer (Allah Hu Akbar)
   
8. To make Dua for the deceased
9. To recite the fourth Takbeer (Allah Hu Akbar)
10. To make a general dua
11. To perform the Salaah in standing position, if one is able to and not to go into rukuh/sujood (bow)
12. To make Salaam
13. Generally the person leading the Salaah will make another dua for the deceased and all other deceased.
14. It is also common practice to recite salawaat on the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS).
15. The janaazah then continues to the Grave Site (Makbarra).
